Q: Why don’t Directors pay NIC at the beginning of the tax year?
A: Directors are allowed the full year’s threshold all at once.
Q: How many weeks maternity pay do I receive?
A: The full entitlement is 52 weeks of which 39 weeks are paid.
Q: How many weeks paternity pay do I receive?
A: Paternity entitlement is 2 continuous weeks to be taken within 8 weeks after the child’s date of birth.
Q: As an employer, can I recover SMP / SPP?
A: Yes, depending on your NIC liability you can recover 92%, or if you are a small employer you can recover 100% plus 3% compensation.
Q: Can I have childcare vouchers through payroll?
A: Yes, as long as your employer has a scheme in place.
Q: How do I know how many holidays I am entitled to?
A: The minimum amount of holidays your employer can pay you is 28 days which can include statutory holidays. This is pro-rata depending on the number of days you work.
